At Journal of Religious Studies and Education, we are committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity. To ensure that all submissions adhere to these standards, we conduct plagiarism screenings on all manuscripts submitted for publication.

1. Plagiarism Detection Process

  • Turnitin Software: All manuscripts submitted to the journal will undergo plagiarism screening using Turnitin, a widely recognized plagiarism detection software. Turnitin compares the submitted text against a vast database of academic publications, websites, and previously submitted works to detect similarities or matches.

  • Similarity Threshold: The journal uses a predefined threshold for similarity to determine whether a manuscript requires further investigation. If the similarity index exceeds a certain percentage (usually 20%), the manuscript will be flagged for further review by the editorial team. This includes checking for direct copying, insufficient citation, or self-plagiarism.

2. Plagiarism Review and Consequences

  • Initial Screening: Authors should ensure that all content in their manuscript is original. Authors will be notified if their manuscript exceeds the acceptable similarity threshold, and they may be asked to revise and properly cite any content that has been flagged.

  • Ethical Violations: If a manuscript is found to contain plagiarized content or significant unoriginal material, it will be subject to further review. Depending on the severity of the plagiarism, the manuscript may be rejected, and the author may be banned from submitting to the journal in the future.

  • Retraction of Published Articles: In the event that plagiarism is identified in an article after publication, the journal reserves the right to retract the article. This will be done in accordance with COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines.

3. Author Responsibilities

  • Originality: Authors must ensure that all submissions are their original work and that proper citations and acknowledgments are provided for any sources, ideas, or text borrowed from other authors.

  • Self-Plagiarism: Authors should avoid submitting the same or substantially similar manuscript to multiple journals or publications. Any overlap with previously published works should be clearly disclosed and appropriately referenced.

By submitting a manuscript to Journal of Religious Studies and Education, authors agree to the plagiarism screening process, and to ensure that their manuscript complies with the ethical standards of publication.
